Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ultra+ only for high-end PCs?

No. Ultra+ scales to your hardware. On a budget PC, it can actually improve performance over vanilla settings while still looking better. On a high-end PC, it pushes quality far beyond what the game ships with. The name is catchy, but it’s for everyone.

How do I know if the mod is running?

Ultra+ Manager shows a status indicator: “Running — U+ Extensions Active” when the mod is loaded and working.

Nothing changes when I press F12 / keybinds don’t work

I’m losing FPS — is that normal?

Ultra+ settings are often higher quality than the game’s defaults, so some performance cost is expected. But “Low” in Ultra+ doesn’t mean bad visuals — it means optimized for your hardware while still looking better than vanilla.

Not all games are equal either. Some games like Hell is Us and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 have very conservative default settings even at in-game “Epic”, so Ultra+ may push them harder.

See the Performance guide for optimization tips.

What does “Game” mean for a setting?

It means Ultra+ isn’t controlling that setting — it uses whatever the game detects on startup. In some cases, Ultra+ applies a better default than the vanilla value where the original setting is known to be suboptimal.

What do the preset quality levels mean?

My game crashes on launch

  1. Clear your shader cache — this fixes most launch crashes
  2. Check the supported games page — use the search filter to find your game and read its specific tips and troubleshooting notes
  3. Some games (like Hogwarts Legacy) have unique shader cache locations — check the specific game page
  4. If it persists, ask for help in the Ultra Place Discord
