Shader Cache Issues

Visual Glitches or Crashes: If you experience visual artifacts, rendering issues, or crashes, try clearing your shader cache:

Note: Some files may be in use and cannot be deleted - this is normal and okay. High CPU usage during game startup indicates shader compilation is occurring.

Alternative to deleting entire shader cache: Start the game, close it, then delete only the most recent files from the respective cache folders

NVIDIA Users

  1. Press Win + R, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA\DXCache and press Enter
  2. Delete all files in this folder
  3. Check %LOCALAPPDATA%[GameName] (may be in alternate location but should be next to save files) for upipelinecache or ushaderprecache files and delete them
  4. Start your game and shader compilation should begin

AMD Users

  1. Use AMD Adrenalin software > Graphics > Advanced > Reset Shader Cache
  2. Check %LOCALAPPDATA%[GameName] (may be in alternate location but should be next to save files) for upipelinecache or ushaderprecache files and delete them
  3. Start your game and shader compilation should begin

Alternative manual method:

  1. Press Win + R, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\AMD\DxCache and press Enter
  2. Delete all files in this folder
  3. Check %LOCALAPPDATA%[GameName] (may be in alternate location but should be next to save files) for upipelinecache or ushaderprecache files and delete them
  4. Start your game and shader compilation should begin
